Transmission Overheating

Check for poor engine performance. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Perform ROAD TEST  under PERFORMANCE TESTS. Perform TORQUE CONVERTOR ENGAGEMENT TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Perform RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST) . Record DTCs. Perform TEST C: TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary. Clear DTCs and perform TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repeat RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  and ensure DTCs are not present.
