Output Shaft Speed Sensor & Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor Function Check (If Equipped)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2002 Lincoln Navigator, 2002 Ford Expedition, 2001 Lincoln Navigator, 2001 Ford RV Cutaway, and 2001 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: On models equipped with Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor and Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor, OSS and TSS sensor function check may be performed on hoist. To identify components, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .

Set voltmeter to 20 volts A/C. Connect voltmeter leads to appropriate TSS sensor jacks. Slowly accelerate vehicle and monitor voltmeter reading. Voltage should increase with vehicle speed. If TSS sensor voltage does not change as specified, perform TEST F: TURBINE SHAFT SPEED & OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSORS  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
