Test H: Solenoid Mechanical Failure

NOTE: After each service or repair procedure has been completed, reconnect all components. Clear DTCs and repeat QUICK TEST. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Ensure all EEC-IV systems are working properly and DTCs are no longer present.
NOTE: Repair all other DTCs before repairing the following DTCs: P1714, P1715 and P1740.
  1. Ensure transmission harness connector is fully seated, terminals are fully engaged in connector and in good condition. Repair as necessary. Connect NGS tester to DLC. Perform KOEO test until continuous memory code(s) have been displayed. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and/or P1740 are the only DTCs set, replace solenoid body assembly and go to next step. If any other DTCs are set, repair them first. Clear DTCs and perform TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repeat RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM and ensure no DTCs are set.
  2. Perform TRANSMISSION DRIVE CYCLE TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Repeat RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If vehicle upshifts and downshifts normally, go to next step. If vehicle does not shift normally, diagnose problem by symptom. See appropriate SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS under TROUBLE SHOOTING .
  3. Repeat KEY-ON-ENGINE-OFF (KOEO) SELF-TEST until continuous memory code(s) are displayed. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and/or P1740 is reset, replace PCM. Repeat RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (QUICK TEST)  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DTCs P1714, P1715 and P1740 are not reset and shifting problems still exist, electronic control system is okay. SeeSYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (MECHANICAL)  under TROUBLE SHOOTING for mechanical diagnosis.
