Rear Safety Belt Retractor - Second and Third Row, Outboard, Excursion: Installation

Third row retractor only 

    CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the shoulder safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.

  1. Install the third row safety belt retractor.
    1. Position the third row safety belt retractor to the body.
    2. Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.

    Second row retractor only 

    2. CAUTION: Do not remove the shipping clip until the shoulder safety belt guide is secured in position. Allowing the safety belt to be retracted further into the safety belt retractor may cause the safety belt retractor to lock and not release the safety belt.

  2. Install the second row safety belt retractor.
    1. Position the second row safety belt retractor to the body.
    2. Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.

    Passenger side with auxiliary climate control only 

  3. Position the climate control duct and install the pin-type retainers.

    Both sides 

  4. Route the second and third row safety belt anchors and guides through the B-pillar trim panel.
    5. NOTE: Do not secure the quarter trim panel as the shipping clip(s) will need to be removed from the safety belt retractor(s) later.
    NOTE: Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.

  5. Position the quarter trim panel to the body and connect the power point electrical connector.
    6. NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

  6. Install the third row shoulder safety belt guide.
    1. Position the shoulder safety belt guide.
    2. Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
    3. Reposition the shoulder safety belt guide cover.
    7. NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.
    NOTE: Inspect the shoulder safety belt guide and cover for damage. If the shoulder safety belt guide or cover is damaged or cover does not remain closed, install a new shoulder safety belt guide.

  7. Install the second row shoulder safety belt guide.
    1. Position the shoulder safety belt guide.
    2. Install the nut.
    3. Close the shoulder safety belt guide cover.
  8. Remove the shipping clip(s) from the safety belt retractor(s).

    9. NOTE: Driver side is shown, passenger side is similar.

  9. Position the quarter trim panel and push in on it securing the fasteners.
    10. NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

  10. Install the third row safety belt anchor.
    1. Position the safety belt anchor.
    2. Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
    11. NOTE: Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted prior to installation.

  11. Install the second row safety belt anchor.
    1. Position the safety belt anchor.
    2. Using the special tool 501-010 (T77L-2100-A), install the bolt.
    12. NOTE: Passenger side is shown, driver side is similar.

  12. Install the pin-type retainers into the quarter trim panel.
  13. Reposition the floor covering back along the rear quarter trim panel.
  14. Position the C-pillar trim panel and push in on it, securing the fasteners.

    Driver side only 

  15. Position the spare tire mounting plate and install the bolts.

  16. Install the spare tire.

    Passenger side only 

  17. Position the D-pillar trim panel and push in on it to secure the fasteners.

  18. Position the rear hatch scuff plate and push down on it to secure the fasteners.

  19. Position the rear hatch upper trim panel and push up on it to secure the fasteners.

    Both sides 

  20. Reposition the weatherstripping. Position the rear door scuff plate and push down on it to secure the fasteners.

  21. Position the floor finish panel and push down on it to secure the fasteners.

  22. Install the second and third row seat belt guide inserts into the quarter trim panel.

  23. Install the third row seat.
  24. Readjust the second row seat.
  25. Check the restraints system for correct operation.
