Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINES .
  3. Remove the nuts.

  4. Lower the hood latch release/park brake bracket and position aside.
  5. Disconnect the hood latch release cable.
  6. Release the retaining clip from the hood latch release handle to the park brake bracket.
  7. Release the return spring and remove the hood release handle.
  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
