Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the hood latch. Refer to HOOD LATCH .
  3. Remove the pin-type retainers.

  4. Position the air deflector aside to reveal the hood latch release cable guide.
  5. Remove the hood latch release cable guide.

  6. Remove the remaining hood latch release cable guides.

  7. Remove the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - GASOLINE ENGINES or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - DIESEL ENGINES .
  8. Remove the A-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION .
  9. Remove the nuts.

  10. Lower the hood latch release/park brake bracket from the vehicle.
  11. Remove the hood latch release cable from the handle.
    • Release the cable conduit.
    • Remove the cable.
  12. Remove the hood latch release cable and dash panel grommet through the front of the vehicle.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
