Transmission Control Indicator Light

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 10 other vehicles, including the 2002 Ford RV Cutaway, 2002 Ford Pickup, 2002 Ford F550 Super Duty, 2002 Ford F450 Super Duty, and 2002 Ford Excursion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. 1) Check Transmission Control Indicator Light (TCIL)

Turn ignition on. If TCIL is flashing, perform QUICK TEST procedures in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - DIESEL article. If any DTCs are present, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V - DIESEL article and perform appropriate SYSTEM TESTS. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
  2. 2) Check TCIL Symptom

Toggle Transmission Control Switch (TCS) on and off several times to operate TCIL. If TCIL remains on, or remains off with TCS operation, go to appropriate symptom under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (ELECTRONIC) under TROUBLE SHOOTING in FORD 4R100 DIAGNOSIS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If TCIL goes on and off with TCS operation, TCIL is okay.
