Strut Assembly: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Disconnect anti-lock brake sensor wiring from strut assembly. Remove anti-lock brake sensor. Disconnect brakeline from brake hose, and remove brake hose from strut assembly. Remove strap attaching parking brake cable to tie rod. Disconnect stabilizer bar link from control arm. Remove bolt securing tie rod to spindle.
  2. Place jackstands under front and rear control arms, and remove strut-to-spindle pinch bolt. Separate strut from spindle. Using Strut Spring Compressor (T81P-5310-A), compress rear springs. Remove 2 bolts attaching upper strut assembly, and remove strut assembly. See Figure.
