Removal & Installation: Spindle: Removal

    CAUTION: DO NOT use impact wrench to remove or install axle hub retainer. Damage to spindle or hub assembly will result.
  1. Raise vehicle, and remove wheel. Remove anti-lock brake sensor. On disc brake models, remove caliper and rotor. Wire caliper aside. On drum brake models, remove brake drum. Remove axle hub retaining nut from spindle, and remove hub assembly.
  2. On disc brake models, remove disc brake shield. On drum brake models, remove 4 bolts attaching backing plate. Wire backing plate aside. On all models, disconnect tie rod from spindle. Disconnect front and rear control arms from spindle. Remove strut-to-spindle pinch bolt, and remove spindle from strut.
