Control Arms: Installation

  1. Position front control arms in crossmember, and hand tighten bolts and nuts. Ensure bolt heads face fuel tank. Install crossmember and tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Position front control arms onto wheel spindles, and hand tighten bolts and nuts. Connect stabilizer bar link to front control arm, and tighten nut to specification.
  2. Install wheel assembly, and lower vehicle. With vehicle supported on wheel assemblies, tighten front control arm-to-spindle bolts and front control arm-to-crossmember bolts to specification. Check wheel alignment. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.


  1. Position rear control arms in crossmember, and install adjusting cam bolts. Align mark on adjuster cams with mark on crossmember, and hand tighten bolts. Install rear control arms on wheel spindles, and hand tighten bolts.
  2. Install wheel assemblies, and lower vehicle. With vehicle supported on wheel assemblies, tighten rear control arm-to-spindle bolts and rear control arm-to-crossmember bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check wheel alignment. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
