Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - 4R100 Transmission: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the bolts and the skid plate (4x4 only).

  3. Remove the bolts and the air deflector.

  4. Using the special tool, disconnect the fluid cooler tubes from the fluid cooler.

  5. NOTE: If cooler bypass valve (CBV) assembly removal is necessary, refer to COOLER BYPASS VALVE .

  6. Remove the fluid cooler tube from the front cooler line case fitting.
  7. Remove the fluid cooler tube from the rear cooler line case fitting.

  8. NOTE: To remove production fluid cooler tubes from some vehicle applications, it will be necessary to use a tube cutter to cut the tubes at the fluid cooler tube bracket.

  9. Remove the nut, the fluid cooler tube bracket and the fluid cooler tube(s).
