Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.

  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the crankshaft position sensor.

  5. Disconnect the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector.

  6. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the A/C compressor bolts.

  7. Loosen the bolts enough for the compressor to slide down one inch, allowing access for crankshaft position (CKP) sensor removal.
  8. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor.

  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
