Removal and Installation

WARNING:
Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.
WARNING:
Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running.
WARNING:
Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved.
- Remove the throttle body (TB) spacer. Refer to THROTTLE BODY - SPACER .
- Disconnect the RH radio ignition interference capacitor electrical connector.
- Working from the front of the engine, disconnect the following electrical connections:
- engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
- LH radio ignition interference capacitor.
- field circuit check connect.
- both plug-in connectors at the generator.
- Disconnect the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the 16-pin electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 42-pin electrical connector.
- Disconnect the engine knock sensor (KS) electrical connector.
- Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
- From underneath the vehicle, disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the LH HO2S electrical connector.
- From the top of the engine, disconnect the five LH fuel injector electrical connectors and the five ignition coil electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the five RH fuel injector electrical connectors and the five ignition coil electrical connectors. Carefully remove the fuel charging wiring harness.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
