Wiring Harness: Removal

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited, resulting in possible personal injury.

WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running.

WARNING: Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved.

Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).
Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION - GASOLINE & DIESEL .
Remove the throttle bodyspacer. Refer to THROTTLE BODY - SPACER .
Disconnect the RH radio capacitor assembly connector.

Working from the front of the engine, disconnect the following:
1. Field circuit check connector.
2. Both plug-in connectors at the generator.

Working from the front of the engine, disconnect the following:
1. Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT).
2. Intake manifold air control valve assembly.
3. Camshaft position sensor (CMP).

Disconnect the cylinder head temperature sensor.

Disconnect the connectors.
1. Disconnect the 16-pin connector.
2. Disconnect the 42-pin connector.

Disconnect the LH radio capacitor assembly connector.

If equipped, disconnect the EGR vacuum transducer electrical connector.

Disconnect the engine knock sensor.

Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor.

Raise the vehicle. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
From underneath the vehicle, disconnect the A/C compressor connector.

Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) connector.

Disconnect the oil pressure sensor connector.

Disconnect the LH heated oxygen sensor.

Lower the vehicle.
From the top of the engine disconnect the following:
1. Four LH fuel injector connectors.
2. Four LH ignition coil connectors.
3. Intake air temperature connector.

Disconnect the (1) four RH fuel injector connectors and (2) four RH ignition coil connectors. Carefully remove the fuel charging wiring harness.
