Camshaft Roller Follower: Removal

  1. Remove the valve cover. Refer to VALVE COVER LH , or VALVE COVER RH .
  2. Remove the cooling fan. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  3. Position the piston of the cylinder being repaired at the bottom of the stroke.

  4. Install the special tool between the valve spring coils to prevent valve stem seal damage.

  5. NOTE: The camshaft roller followers must be installed in their original locations. Record the camshaft roller follower locations.

  6. Use the special tool to compress the valve springs and remove the camshaft roller followers.
