Removal and Installation

  1. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Remove the driver air bag module. Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
  3. Remove and discard the steering wheel retaining bolt.

  4. CAUTION: Removing the steering wheel without using a puller can damage the column bearings.

  5. Using the special tool, remove the steering wheel.
  6. Remove the steering wheel while routing the wires from the clockspring through the steering wheel.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
