Stabilizer Bar & Link Assembly (1999): Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Center steering wheel, and lock in position. Remove steering column shaft-to-flexible coupling clamp plate bolt. Rotate clamp plate to disengage. Remove floor seal around steering column shaft. DO NOT damage sealing clips. Using a pin, support both sides of radiator. See Fig 1.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies. Remove radiator splash shield. Remove wheel well splash shields. Remove radiator support brackets. Remove bumper support brackets. Remove A/C condenser mounting nuts. Disconnect oxygen sensor connector from subframe. Remove front engine mount. Remove catalytic convertor and discard nuts.
  3. Remove rear engine mount and bracket. Disconnect stabilizer bar connecting links. Using transmission jack, support subframe assembly. Remove subframe retaining bolts. Lower subframe to gain access to stabilizer bar retaining bolts. Remove stabilizer bar-to-subframe bolts. Remove stabilizer bar.
