Driveshaft - Rear Two-Piece: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Index-mark the driveshaft to the rear axle pinion flange.

  3. Remove four bolts, and disconnect and remove the rear driveshaft section.

  4. Support the coupling shaft, and remove the two center bearing bracket retaining bolts.

  5. Lock the parking brake.

  6. For E450 and E550 vehicles, index-mark the components and remove the four coupling driveshaft bolts from the parking brake assembly.

  7. NOTE: If a new output flange on the parking brake assembly needs to be installed, refer to DISC & DRUM .

  8. Separate the coupling shaft from the parking brake assembly.
