Pinpoint Test K: Transmission Control Indicator Lamp (TCIL) Stays Illuminated

  1. K1 CYCLE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH (TCS) 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Cycle the transmission control switch (TCS).
    • Does the transmission control indicator lamp (TCIL) illuminate and then go off? 
    • Yes  : OK at this time. Concern may be intermittent.
    • No  : GO to K2.
  2. K2 CHECK THE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    • Key in ON position.
    • Does the TCIL remain on? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit. RECONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new PCM. TEST the system for normal operation.
