Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Since the engine is not free-wheeling, timing procedures must be followed exactly or piston and valve damage can occur.

Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Remove the crankshaft front seal. For additional information, refer to CRANKSHAFT PULLEY AND CRANKSHAFT SEAL .
Remove the roller followers. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT ROLLER FOLLOWER AND HYDRAULIC LASH ADJUSTER .
Drain the engine oil.

Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations and tables.

To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps:

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
Fill and bleed the engine cooling system. For additional information refer to ENGINE COOLING .
Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to STEERING SYSTEM .
