Power Steering Pump - 4.6L (2V): Notes

CAUTION: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or premature failure of the power steering components can result.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, REFER to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. If removing the power steering pump, remove the LH front wheel.
  3. If removing the power steering pump or pulley, remove the air cleaner. For additional information, REFER to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS-4.6l (2V) .
  4. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

    To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps: 

    PARTS SPECIFICATION

    Part Steps
    Power steering pump 10, 16-22
    Power steering pump pulley 16-17
    Power steering fluid reservoir 1-6
    Power steering fluid cooler 7-9
    Power steering hoses 1-7, 10-15

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  6. Fill and leak test the system. For additional information, Refer to POWER STEERING SYSTEM FILLING .
