WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer and 2004 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Raise the vehicle until the tires are off of the ground. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING
- Grasp the tire at the top and bottom and move the wheel inward and outward while lifting the weight of the tire from the front wheel bearings. If movement exists, a new bearing must be installed. Refer to WHEEL BEARING, HUB, KNUCKLE, UPPER ARM AND LOWER ARM - FRONT or WHEEL BEARING, HUB, KNUCKLE, UPPER ARM AND LOWER ARM - REAR .
NOTE:
Make sure the wheel rotates freely and the brake pads are retracted sufficiently to allow movement of the wheel and tire assembly.
