Handles, Locks, Latches And Entry Systems: Notes
The liftgate latch system contains a latch located on the bottom of the inside frame of the liftgate, which is controlled by the exterior liftgate release handle.
The liftgate latch has an integrated door ajar switch and a lock actuator. The liftgate can be locked/unlocked by the door lock control switch or the remote transmitter. In the event the vehicle battery or the remote keyless entry transmitter battery is discharged, the liftgate can be unlocked manually. For additional information, refer to the Owner Literature.
The hood latch system consists of one latch that is fastened to the body and a hood latch striker attached to the hood. The latch is controlled by a primary release handle located on the lower A-pillar and a secondary release handle located on the grille opening panel.
The front door latch system consists of a latch fastened to the inside of the door frame, controlled by the exterior and interior door handles. The front door latch system has an integrated door ajar switch and door lock actuator. The front door locks are actuated by either a keyless entry keypad, remote transmitter or the door lock/control switch located on the driver and passenger door trim panel, by manually inserting the key into the lock cylinder to lock/unlock, manually raising or lowering the lock rod or by operating the interior door handle.
The sliding door latch system contains two latches that are fastened to the inside of the front and rear sliding door frame. They are controlled by the exterior and interior door handles and the power sliding door latch actuator (if equipped). The sliding door remote control contains the door lock actuator, power sliding door latch actuator (if equipped), the sliding door front latch and the sliding door rear latch and cable. The doors can be locked/unlocked by the remote transmitter, the keyless entry keypad, manually raising and lowering the lock rod, operating the interior door handle or the door lock control switch. The doors have a child safety lock feature, which is located on the frame of the sliding door.
The remote keyless entry (RKE) feature allows the following functions to be carried out using the remote transmitter or keyless entry keypad:
- unlock the driver door
- unlock all doors
- lock all doors
- arm the security system (if equipped)
- disarm the security system (if equipped)
- activate a panic alarm
- reset a panic alarm
- recall the memory seat/mirrors/steering column/pedals position associated with a particular remote entry device (when enabled)
- release the liftgate latch
- release/open power sliding doors
Individual lock cylinders are repaired by discarding the inoperative cylinder and building a new lock cylinder using the appropriate lock repair package. The lock repair package includes a detailed instruction sheet to build the new lock cylinder to the current key code of the vehicle.
