Pinpoint Test E: The Power Seat Does Not Make Full Travel
- E1 CHECK FOR OBSTRUCTION IN THE SEAT TRACK WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.NOTE: If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side air bag and/or a safety belt pretensioner (if equipped) system is being serviced, the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be disabled.
- Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
.NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
- Key in OFF position.
- Disable the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Disabling and Activating in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
- Disconnect: Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioner C323 (Driver) and C303 (Passenger). Connect: Restraint System Diagnostic Tool 501-097 to the Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioner C323 (Driver) and C303 (Passenger).
- Disconnect: Seat Side Air Bag C367 (Driver) and C337 (Passenger) (Vehicles With Seat Side Air Bags Only).
- Connect: Restraint System Diagnostic Tool 418-133 to the Seat Side Air Bag C367 (Driver) and C337 (Passenger) (Vehicles With Seat Side Air Bags Only).
WARNING: Be sure that nobody is in the vehicle and that there is nothing blocking or set in front of any air bag module when the battery ground cable is connected.- Connect the battery ground cable.
- Key in OFF position.
- Remove the affected seat Refer to DRIVER SEAT .
- Are there any obstructions in the track?
- Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS

Yes
REMOVE the obstruction(s) and GREASE the track(s). TEST the system for normal operation.
DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tools from safety belt buckle pretensioner C323 (driver) and C303 (passenger). CONNECT safety belt buckle pretensioner C323 (driver) and C303 (passenger).
For vehicles with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tools from seat side air bag C367 (driver), C337 (passenger). CONNECT seat side air bag C367 (driver), C337 (passenger).
REACTIVATE the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .
No
IDENTIFY the cause and INSTALL a new seat track as needed. TEST the system for normal operation.
DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tools from safety belt buckle pretensioner C323 (driver) and C303 (passenger). CONNECT safety belt buckle pretensioner C323 (driver) and C303 (passenger).
For vehicles with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tools from seat side air bag C367 (driver), C337 (passenger). CONNECT seat side air bag C367 (driver), C337 (passenger).
REACTIVATE the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
