Rear Brake Shoes: Installation

- Using vacuum system, clean backing plate. Using high temperature grease, lubricate backing plate brake shoe contact areas.
- Apply light coat of anti-seize to threaded area of adjuster nut and socket. Turn nut down on screw completely, then loosen 1/2 turn.
- Install parking brake lever on trailing shoe using NEW clip. Position trailing shoe on backing plate and install shoe hold down spring and pin.
- Position leading shoe on backing plate and install hold-down spring and pin. If installing new brake drum, clean protective coating using carburetor cleaner.
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. See Figure .
