Pinpoint Test An: The Defrost System Will Not Shut Off Automatically
- AN1 CHECK FOR DTCs
- Retrieve the recorded DTC results from the SJB for continuous and on-demand self-test.
- Is DTC B1345 recorded?
Yes
GO to AN5.
No
GO to AN2.
- AN2 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST RELAY
- Disconnect: Rear Window Defrost Relay C1099.
- Carry out the ISO relay component test on the rear window defrost relay.
Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information.
- Did the relay pass the component test?
Yes
GO to AN3.
No
INSTALL a new rear window defrost relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AN3 CHECK CIRCUIT 186 (BN/LB) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the rear window defrost relay C1099 pin 87, circuit 186 (BN/LB), harness side and ground.
- Is voltage present?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to AN4.
- AN4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1389 (WH) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
- Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c-12, circuit 1389 (WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
For vehicles with the single zone climate control, GO to AN5. For vehicles with the dual zone climate control, GO to AN6.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AN5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1426 (PK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b-18, circuit 1426 (PK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to AN6.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- AN6 CHECK FOR CORRECT MODULE OPERATION
- Disconnect all SJB connectors
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the SJB self-test.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
