Principles of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The left and right power sliding door systems each have their own PSD module and operate independently. Each PSD module has specific outputs to control the appropriate power sliding door operation. The control switches, SJB park input, SJB vehicle speed input and SJB remote keyless entry (RKE) signal inputs are specific for each PSD module. The SJB park input is a ground supplied by the SJB when the vehicle is in PARK. The SJB vehicle speed input is also a ground supplied by the SJB when vehicle speed is below 5 km/h (3 mph). Both the SJB park input and the SJB vehicle speed input are required for power open operation. The overhead console on/off switch disables the B-pillar switches and the power assist operation (operation from the interior and exterior door handles and from manual movement).
