Overhead Console On/Off Switch
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Monterey and 2004 Ford Freestar. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The overhead console on/off switch enables or disables the B-pillar switch activation and power assist activation of the PSD. Both functions are enabled when the PSD detects ground on the on/off switch circuit. With the overhead console on/off switch in the ON position:
- a ground signal is supplied to the PSD.
- the B-pillar switches are enabled.
- power assist is enabled.
The overhead switch has an ignition feed through the SJB fuse 16 (5A). With the ignition in RUN and the on/off switch in the ON position, the LED next to the switch will illuminate. With the overhead console on/off switch in the OFF position, the ground is removed and the B-pillar switches and power assist will not operate. The ground for the overhead console switch assembly is shared by the overhead console open/close switches.
