SYMPTOM CHART - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS)

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • The anti-theft indicator is always/never on - engine cranks, but no three-second theft indicator prove-out
  • Powertrain control module (PCM).
  • Theft indicator.
  • Bussed electrical center (BEC) fuse 58 (30A).
  • Smart junction box (SJB) fuse 9 (10A).
  • Circuitry.
  • The vehicle does not start - theft indicator proves out for three seconds as normal
  • Standard corporate protocol (SCP) not connected/failure.
  • Powertrain control module (PCM).
  • Smart junction box (SJB).
  • The vehicle does not start- theft indicator proves out for three seconds as normal, vehicle does not crank
  • Starter circuit.
  • The vehicle starts and runs for longer than one second, then stalls
  • This is not a passive anti-theft system (PATS) issue. PATS never disables a running engine.
