Pinpoint Test AR: The Key-In-Ignition Chime Is Inoperative

  1. AR1 CHECK FOR DRIVER DOOR AJAR INPUT TO THE SJB 
    • Be sure the interior lamp switch is in the door position.
    • Open the driver door.
    • Do the interior lamps illuminate? 

    Yes 

    GO to AR2.

    No 

    Refer to INTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the interior lamps.

  2. AR2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR DTC B1352 
    • Use the recorded results from the instrument cluster self-test.
    • Is DTC B1352 received? 

    Yes 

    GO to AR3.

    No 

    GO to  AR4.

  3. AR3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1414 (LG/VT) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220a.
    • Disconnect: Clockspring C218b.
    • Measure the resistance between the clockspring C218b-7, circuit 1414 (LG/VT), harness side and the instrument cluster C220a-8, circuit 1414 (LG/VT), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new key-in-ignition warning switch. Refer to STEERING SYSTEM CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  4. AR4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the connectors and make sure connectors are fully seated.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new instrument cluster. Refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER .

    No 

    The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
