Pinpoint Test BE: C1920, B2373 Led No. 1 Circuit Failure

  1. BE1 USE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE PARKING AID MODULE SELF-TEST 
    • Use the recorded results from the parking aid module self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes 

    For DTC C1920 or B2373, GO to BE2.

    All others, go to the PARKING AID MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX .

    No 

    Go To PINPOINT TEST AY: PARKING AID IS INOPERATIVE .

  2. BE2 CHECK CIRCUIT 1436 (VT/OG) FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Parking Aid Disable Switch C2114.
    • Disconnect: Parking Aid Module. Measure the resistance between the parking aid module C4226-5, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and ground; or between the parking aid module C4014-19, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to BE3

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  3. BE3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1436 (VT/OG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the parking aid module C4226-5, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and the parking aid disable switch C2114-6, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side; or between the parking aid module C4014-19, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and the parking aid disable switch C2114-6, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes 

    GO to BE4

    No 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

  4. BE4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1436 (VT/OG) FOR A SHORT TO POWER 
    • Measure the voltage between the parking aid module C4226-5, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and ground; or between the parking aid module C4014-19, circuit 1436 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is there any voltage present? 

    Yes 

    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

    No 

    GO to BE5.

  5. BE5 CHECK THE TRACTION ASSIST/PARKING AID DISABLE SWITCH 
    • Install a known good traction assist/parking aid disable switch.
    • Test the system for normal operation.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes 

    GO to BE6

    No 

    INSTALL a new traction assist/parking aid disable switch. Refer to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL . TEST the system for normal operation.

  6. BE6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PARKING AID OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the parking aid module connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the parking aid module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes 

    INSTALL a new parking aid module. Refer to PARKING AID MODULE . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. CARRY OUT the diagnostic tool data link test.

    No 

    The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
