Preliminary Inspection

- Verify customer complaints by operating system in all available modes. Carefully check following for possible cause of problems and repair as necessary: damaged vacuum hoses, system components, damaged compressor drive belt, open fuses, damaged wiring circuits or loose connectors.
- If symptom(s) remain after preliminary inspection, connect New Generation Star Tester (007-00500), or scan tool, to Data Link Connector (DLC). Perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC test.
- If scan tool displays CKT 914 and CKT 915 = ALL MODULE NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see SYSTEM TESTS in SELF DIAGNOSTIC article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Test and repair these circuits before proceeding.
- If any Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See PCM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES table. If symptom remains after repairs have been made, go to SYMPTOM TESTS .
