Removal (3.0L Engine)

Disconnect negative battery cable. If flushing of refrigerant system has not been performed, discharge A/C system, using approved recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Loose clamp, disconnect crankcase ventilation tube and position air cleaner outlet tube aside. See Fig 1. Remove compressor drive belt. Disconnect A/C clutch coil connector. See Fig 2. Remove clamp nut on compressor manifold and tube assembly. See Fig 3. Remove manifold and tube assembly bolt. See Fig 4. Disconnect manifold and tube assembly. Remove 4 mounting bolts and compressor. See Fig 5. Discard "O" rings. Plug manifold openings.
