Pinpoint Test H: The Vehicle Does Not Start

  1. H1 CHECK THE STARTING SYSTEM FOR CORRECT VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the PCM C175 pin 44, circuit 325 (DB/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage less than 8 volts? 
    1. Yes  : DIAGNOSE the starting system. REFER to STARTERS .
    2. No  : GO to H2.
  2. H2 CHECK THE STARTING SYSTEM GROUND 
    • Measure the voltage between the PCM C175 pin 44, circuit 325 (DB/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage less than 2 volts? 
    1. Yes  : DIAGNOSE the starting system. REFER to STARTERS .
    2. No  : GO to H3.
  3. H3 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS .

      REPROGRAM the encoded ignition keys. REFER to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
