Pinpoint Test F: Anti-Theft Number Of Programmed Keys Is Below Minimum

  1. F1 RETRIEVE THE DTCS 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve PCM Continuous DTCs.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear Continuous DTCs.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve PCM Continuous DTCs.
    • Is DTC B1213 retrieved? 
    1. Yes  : GO to F2.
    2. No  : If other than PATS PCM DTCs are retrieved, REFER to the INTRODUCTION - CNG, FLEX-FUEL & GASOLINE article.

      If no PATS DTCs are retrieved, the system is OK.

  2. F2 CHECK THE NUMBER OF KEYS ENCODED - MONITOR THE PCM PID NUMKEYS 
    • Monitor the PCM PID NUMKEYS.
    • Does the PCM PID NUMKEYS display less than two encoded ignition keys programmed? 
    1. Yes  : GO to F3.
    2. No  : The system is OK.
  3. F3 PROGRAM ENCODED IGNITION KEYS 
      NOTE: Two programmed encoded ignition keys must be available to start the vehicle.
    • Cut a new encoded PATS ignition lock cylinder key.
    • PROGRAM the new encoded ignition key. REFER to SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING .
    • Does the theft LED illuminate for three seconds and then go out? 
    1. Yes  : CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition OFF then back to RUN to verify all codes have been cleared. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. No  : GO to F4.
  4. F4 CHECK FOR A REPAIR MODULE - MONITOR THE PCM PID SERV_MOD 
    • Monitor the PCM PID SERV_MOD.
    • Does the PCM PID SERV_MOD indicate YES? 
    1. Yes  : PROGRAM the encoded ignition keys. REFER to SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self - test.
    2. No  : If the LED is illuminated continuously, REPEAT Step  F3. Using a new encoded ignition key.

      If the LED is flashing, RETRIEVE the PCM DTC stored for the new PATS fault.
