Pinpoint Test F: The Battery Saver Does Not Deactivate After Timeout

- F1 CHECK THE IGNITION STATES
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: PID/DATA Monitor and Record.
- Monitor the ignition switch while cycling through all ignition switch positions.
- Do the PID values agree with all the ignition switch positions?
- Yes : GO to F2.
- No : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES for additional diagnosis of the ignition switch.
- F2 CHECK THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Battery Saver Relay.
- Carry out the relay component test.
Refer to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS for schematic and connector information.
- Does the battery saver relay pass the component test?
- Yes : GO to F3.
- No : INSTALL a new battery saver relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F3 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMP RELAY
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Interior Lamp Relay.
- Carry out the relay component test.
Refer to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS for schematic and connector information.
- Does the interior lamp relay pass the component test?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : INSTALL a new interior lamp relay. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- F4 CHECK CIRCUIT 55 (BK/PK) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b pin 10, circuit 55 (BK/PK), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage indicated?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to F5.
- F5 CHECK CIRCUIT 53 (BK/LB) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280b pin 14, circuit 53 (BK/LB), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage indicated?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : GO to F6.
- F6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES

CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
