Pinpoint Test T: The Individual Trailer Lamp Is Inoperative

  1. T1 DETERMINE THE CONDITION 
    • Observe the trailer tow lights.
    • Are the trailer parking lamps inoperative? 
    1. Yes  : If both trailer tow parking lamps are inoperative, GO to T2. If one trailer parking lamp is inoperative, SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair facility.
    2. No  : If a trailer tow stop/turn lamp is inoperative, GO to  T4.
  2. T2 CHECK CIRCUIT 962 (BN/WH) FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the parking lamps ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the trailer tow C439 pin 2, circuit 962 (BN/WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : The vehicle is operating correctly. SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair center for repair.
    2. No  : TURN the headlamp switch off. GO to T3.
  3. T3 CHECK CIRCUIT 962 (BN/WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c pin 22, circuit 962 (BN/WH), harness side and the trailer tow C439 pin 2, circuit 962 (BN/WH), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to T5.
    2. No  : REPAIR circuit 962 (BN/WH). TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. T4 CHECK CIRCUIT 52 (YE) (LH STOP/TURN) OR 64 (DG) (RH STOP/TURN) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the voltage between the trailer tow C439 pin 3, circuit 52 (YE) (LH stop/turn), harness side and ground (LH) while pressing the brake pedal; or between the trailer tow C439 pin 4, circuit 64 (DG) (RH stop/turn), harness side and ground while pressing the brake pedal.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : The vehicle is operating correctly. SEND the trailer to an authorized camper/trailer repair center for repair.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. T5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
