Pinpoint Test N: The Exterior Lamps Are Always On

- N1 USE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE SJB SELF-TEST
- Key in OFF position.
- Using the recorded results from the SJB self-test:
- Were any DTCs recorded?
- Yes
If DTC C1962, GO to N2.
All others, GO to the SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX for correct diagnosis.
- No : GO to N4.
- N2 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH
- Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
- Do the exterior lamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to N3.
- No : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to LAMP SWITCH - HEADLAMP . TEST the system for normal operation.
- N3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1032 (WH/BK) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: SJB C2280d.
- Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C205 pin 3, circuit 1032 (WH/BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to N4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- N4 CHECK CIRCUIT 962 (BN/WH) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB fuse 2 (10A).
- Do the exterior lamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to N5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal.
- N5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1339 (BK/PK) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
- Do the rear parking lamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to N6.
- N6 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280a.
- Do the front parking lamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to N7.
- N7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
