Pinpoint Test M: The Exterior Lamps Are Inoperative

  1. M1 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
    • Carry out the headlamp switch component test.

      Refer to the appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS for schematic and connector information.

    • Is the headlamp switch OK? 
    1. Yes  : GO to M2.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to LAMP SWITCH - HEADLAMP . TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. M2 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C205 pin 5, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to M3.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. M3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1032 (WH/BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C205 pin 3, circuit 1032 (WH/BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : GO to M4.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. M4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
