Pinpoint Test D: The Headlamps Are On Continuously

- D1 CHECK THE HEADLAMP SWITCH NOTE: Make sure the multifunction switch is in the low beam position
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to D2.
- No : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to LAMP SWITCH - HEADLAMP . TEST the system for normal operation.
- D2 CHECK THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH
- Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202b.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes
: If the high beams are illuminated, GO to D6.
If the low beams are illuminated, GO to D4.
- No : GO to D3.
- D3 CHECK CIRCUIT 164 (VT/LB) FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Measure the voltage between the multifunction switch C202b pin 8, circuit 164 (VT/LB), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- D4 CHECK CIRCUIT 13 (RD/BK) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to D5.
- No : REPAIR the circuit and test the system for normal operation.
- D5 CHECK THE SJB FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280a.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : If RH headlamp, REPAIR circuit 1056 (DB/LG). TEST the system for normal operation. If LH headlamp, REPAIR circuit 1055 (WH/LG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to D9.
- D6 CHECK CIRCUIT 632 (GY/OG) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : GO to D7.
- No : REPAIR circuit 632 (GY/OG). TEST the system for normal operation.
- D7 CHECK CIRCUIT 12 (LG/BK) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Disconnect: SJB C2280a.
- Connect: SJB C2280b.
- Do the headlamps continue to illuminate?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to D8.
- D8 CHECK CIRCUIT 932 (GY/LB) FOR SHORT TO POWER
- Observe the high beam indicator.
- Is the high beam indicator illuminated?
- Yes : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to D9.
- D9 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect all SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
