Pinpoint Test Q: The Door Ajar Warning Indicator Is Inoperative

  1. Q1 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMPS FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
    • Do the interior lamps operate correctly? 
    1. Yes  : GO to Q2.
    2. No  : REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis on the interior lamps.
  2. Q2 CARRY OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME ACTIVE COMMAND 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command.
    • Select the instrument cluster warning lamps and chime active command. Trigger the all lamps active command ON and OFF. Observe the door ajar warning indicator.
    • Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate when triggered ON, and turn off when triggered OFF? 
    1. Yes  : GO to Q3.
    2. No  : GO to  Q7.
  3. Q3 CHECK THE DOOR AJAR SWITCHES FOR INPUT 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280c.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280d.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280c pin 2, circuit 1312 (LG/BK), harness side and ground.

    • Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280d pin 4, circuit 1314 (YE/LG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 8.3 volts? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  Q6.
    2. No  : If the driver circuit is suspected, GO to Q4.

      If the passenger circuit is suspected, GO to  Q5.

  4. Q4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1312 (LG/BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220a.
    • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C220a pin 2, circuit 1312 (LG/BK), harness side and the SJB C2280c pin 2, circuit 1312 (LG/BK), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  Q7.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. Q5 CHECK CIRCUIT 1314 (YE/LG) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280d.
    • Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C220a pin 3, circuit 1314 (YE/LG), harness side and the SJB C2280d pin 4, circuit 1314 (YE/LG) harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : GO to  Q7.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. Q6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
    • Corrosion
    • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  7. Q7 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
    • Check for:
    • Corrosion
    • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the instrument cluster self-test.
    2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
