Pinpoint Test M: The RH Turn Signal Indicator Is Never On

- M1 CHECK RH TURN SIGNAL OPERATION
- Key in ON position.
- Operate the RH turn signal.
- Does the RH external turn signal operate?
- Yes : GO to M2
- No : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the turn signals.
- M2 CHECK FOR POWER TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220a.
- Key in ON position.
- Place the multifunction switch in the RH turn signal position.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220a pin 13, circuit 2 (WH/LB), harness side and ground.
- Does the voltage vary from 0 to greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to M3.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- M3 CHECK THE GROUND TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the instrument cluster C220a pin 1, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to M4.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- M4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- Corrosion
- Pushed-out pins
- Incorrectly installed bulb sockets
- Burnt-out bulbs
- Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the instrument cluster self-test.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
