Pinpoint Test A: No Communication With The Instrument Cluster

  1. A1 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POWER SUPPLY 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220b.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Using the following table, measure the voltage between the instrument cluster, harness side and ground.
      Connector-Pin Circuit
      C220b-8 640 (RD/YE)
      C220b-10 3049 (BK/LG)
      C220b-12 489 (PK/BK)
    • Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? 
    1. Yes  : GO to A2.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. A2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GROUND CIRCUITS 570 (BK/WH) AND 57 (BK) 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220a.
    • Using the following table, measure the resistance between the instrument cluster, harness side and ground.
      Connector-Pin Circuit
      C220a-1 57 (BK)
      C220b-3 570 (BK/WH)
    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
    1. Yes  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK to continue communication diagnosis.
    2. No  : REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. TEST the system for normal operation.
