Preliminary Inspection

  1. Verify customer concern by operating system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage of following:
    • Loose, missing or damaged compressor drive belt.
    • Loose or disconnected A/C clutch.
    • Contaminated or burned A/C clutch.
    • Broken or leaking refrigerant lines.
    • Engine coolant leak.
    • Damaged control switch(es) or climate control panel.
    • Blown Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse F26 (65-amp).
    • Blown Central Junction Box (CJB) fuses F33 (20-amp), F36 (7.5-amp), F37 (10-amp), F39 (20-amp), F45 (15-amp), F47 (15-amp), F58 (10-amp) or F59 (7.5-amp).
    • Blower motor inoperative.
    • Compressor inoperative.
    • Disconnected electrical connectors.
    • Engine cooling fan inoperative.
    • Damaged control switch(es) or climate control panel.
    • Circuitry open or shorted.
  2. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct cause (if possible) before proceeding. If concern is not visually evident, verify symptom. See SYMPTOM TESTS .
