Removal & Installation: Accumulator-Drier: Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Disconnect compressor cycling switch connector. See Fig 1. Disconnect accumulator-drier line to compressor nut. See Figure. Use a back-up wrench to prevent damage to tubes.
- Remove accumulator-drier bracket clamp bolt and, if equipped, rear refrigerant line bracket nut. See Fig 2. Using special tool, disconnect evaporator core outlet line spring lock coupling. See Figure. Remove screws, nuts and speed control servo. See Fig 3. Remove 2 screws and position aside radiator coolant reservoir. See Fig 4. Remove accumulator-drier. See Fig 5. Drill two 0.5" (12.5 mm) holes in accumulator-drier/drier cylinder and drain oil into a calibrated container.
