WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mercury Villager. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
This adjustment procedure should be used when mode door actuator control rod is disconnected and reconnected.
- Position threaded portion of mode door actuator control rod, centered in rod retainer clip, on temperature door crank. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Turn mode selection control knob to FLOOR position. Verify that there is no looseness in linkage and there is no air flow from panel registers. This means door is tight against door stop.
- Turn mode selection control knob to PANEL position. Verify that there is no looseness in linkage. This means door is tight against door stop. If there is panel air bleed in FLOOR mode or looseness in linkage in floor or panel modes, reposition rod one thread and repeat procedure. Close rod retainer latch on rod retainer clip when mode door actuator control rod is properly adjusted.
