Output Shaft and Bearing: Disassembly

  1. Remove the following components:
    1. The bearing outer snap ring.
    2. The third/fourth synchronizer spacer.
    3. The thrust washer.

  2. Remove the following components:
    1. The third/fourth synchronizer.
    2. The third gear blocking ring.
    3. The third gear.
    4. The third gear needle bearing.

  3. CAUTION: Make sure that the output shaft flange does not contact or ride up onto the press cradle. Incorrect positioning can result in component damage.

  4. Position the output shaft in a press. Press off the output shaft center bearing, the first gear, the first/second synchronizer assembly and the second gear.
