Pinpoint Test D: Transmission Control Indicator Lamp (TCIL) Does Not Illuminate

  1. D1 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL INDICATOR LAMP (TCIL) CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    • Connect breakout box.
    • Leave the PCM disconnected.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between test pin 79 and test pins 24 and 76 at 104-Pin Breakout Box.

    • Is the voltage reading greater than 2 volts? 
    1. Yes  : INSTALL a new PCM. REMOVE 104-Pin Breakout Box. CYCLE the TCS to check the operation of the TCIL. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. No  : CHECK the indicator bulb and the fuse.

      If OK, REPAIR wiring between the ignition switch and test pin 79 at the PCM harness connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
