Extension Housing Seal and Bushing: Installation

- Position the extension housing bushing into the extension housing.
- Using the special tool, install the extension housing bushing.
- Position new extension housing seal with drain hole in the 6 o'clock position.
- Using the special tool, install the extension housing seal.
- Align the driveshaft with the marks made during removal to ensure correct balance.
- Install the rear driveshaft bolts.
- Fill the transmission to the correct fluid level with clean automatic transmission fluid and check for correct transmission operation.
CAUTION:
The lube hole in the extension housing bushing must be aligned with the lube groove in the extension housing. This groove is located at the 3 o'clock position when viewed from the rear.
NOTE:
Inspect the counterbore of the extension housing for burrs. Remove any burrs from the extension housing counterbore with an oil stone.
CAUTION:
The tool will bottom when bushing is in the correct position.
NOTE:
Inspect the driveshaft slip-yoke for wear and damage. Install a new component if required.
