Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  2. Partially drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
  3. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air cleaner outlet tube.

  4. Loosen the fitting and disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve tube.

  5. Remove the ignition coil bracket bolts.

  6. CAUTION: Use care when lifting the intake manifold to avoid damage to the intake manifold gasket.

  7. Remove the intake manifold bolts and position the intake manifold aside.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector.

  9. Remove the clip and the engine coolant temperature sender unit.

  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
