Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Partially drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING - 3.0L AND 4.0L .
- Loosen the clamp and disconnect the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Loosen the fitting and disconnect the exhaust manifold-to-exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve tube.
- Remove the ignition coil bracket bolts.
- Remove the intake manifold bolts and position the intake manifold aside.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Remove the clip and the engine coolant temperature sender unit.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
Use care when lifting the intake manifold to avoid damage to the intake manifold gasket.
